Much excitement around Brighton as ever at this time of year – the annual Arts Festival kicks off tomorrow! The artistic director this year is Brian Eno, who’s personally involved in several events himself which seems to have resulted in a festival very much in his image. This can only be a good thing. There’ll be the usual round of Open House private views (going to one tonight in fact), street theatre, cabaret etc. The event I’m most looking forward to is a showing of Godfrey Reggio’s Koyaanisqatsi, with the fabulous soundtrack being played live by the Philip Glass Orchestra. Can’t wait.
It’ll also be interesting to see comic-strip legends Chris Ware and Daniel Clowes in conversation at the Corn Exchange later in the month.
As for my own involvement, there’s just the pop-up restaurant appearance and the hope of selling a few prints ‘n’ postcards while I’m at it. In preparation for Residence, I’ve been reminding myself how to wield a brush on this here piece of wood (and why not?):
Does that count as a sketch?
